Week 12 Reading Notes: Krishna, Epified Part B

Krishna is not destined to marry Radha, even if he does love her.

I like the story of Krishna and Hastin. His brother wanted to kill the mean old bull, but Krishna saved his life. But instead of using his divine power to trick Hastin into doing what Krishna wanted, Krishna started to spend time with Hastin. He played him sweet songs on his flute and fed him sweets. Then when the night came that Krishna was supposed to ride him, Hastin allowed him to. And even after that night, Krishna maintained his kindness towards Hastin.

I feel like every Indian Epic has a reveal to some child that his parents are not actually his parents.

Krishna was brave to leave his home for a place that endangered his life. He was surrounded by people who loved him and who would serve him for the rest of his life. Instead of choosing to stay were he felt safest, he left it behind for the future that he was destined for. That must have taken some guts.

Mathura was freed from Kamsa and the people were overjoyed. AND Krishna freed his parents!! I guess it was worth all those years in prison to be greeted by your son like this. I thought for sure Krishna would be the king right after Kamsa. Dwarka was better though.
