Week 12 Reading Notes: Krishna, Epified Part A

I'm excited to finally get to know Krishna. Krishna is such a prominent figure in the Indian culture and I can't finish an Indian Epics class without learning something about him!

Krishna is a reincarnation of Vishnu.

The story of Durga was a powerful one. The way Durga stood up for herself and for women was moving. And the fact that she said that she had slain beasts greater than Kamsa was icing on the cake. But why couldn't Durga free Krishna's mom and dad? I feel like she could have easily done that.

Was Krishna really stealing the butter and curd? Sounded more like he was just having fun with his friends. It was cool to see that the all powerful Krishna was also a normal boy who did normal things like cause trouble and play pranks on the other villagers.

Krishna got really into playing his flute and soon he was using it to defeat his enemies.

So what was Krishna eating if he really wasn't eating mud?  Like what did that little boy see?

Krishna held up a mountain with his pinky finger and then made the god of weather, Indra, bow to him in reverence. But did the people not see that it was Krishna's idea not to worship Indra that year and that's what lead to his outrage?

Radha loves Krishna.
